Hunter Shot on closing day

I'll never understand shooting at something you can't identify first. I know some folks get itchy and maybe you haven't gotten something all season, but wow.

It scares me when I walk through the woods because you never know who has a gun. Especially at my lease where I hunt next to the national forest.

how is it that this happens? are they allowed to shoot anything? if it's brown it's down?
even if you can shoot ANY deer, you still have to know your target is a deer.

Not necessarily, I can remember the mountains of Pa looking like the great pumpkin patch with all that orange. Every year growing up someone would shoot someone thinking it was a deer coming through the brush.

I remember being taught to know your target and whats beyond but some people no matter of what color you have on still don't practice that.
