    Has anyone else.....

    Had a crappy season???

I have hunted probably 50-60 sits since bow season started and have seen nothing but a couple spikes, dinkers, one good looking illegal buck and one barely legal pencil rack 8 point. And I've got all of those deer on camera as well.

I hunted the rut HARD as well.

It seems that ALOT of people I talk to that hunt in Parker County like me aren't seeing anything worth shooting either.

    It's usually not like this.

Any other Parker County guys out there ? How has it been for you?

Just north of you in Wise county. I've had a decent year. Seen plenty of deer. Killed a nice doe and still have the extended season left for another. Saw my target buck once but just couldn't get a shot at him. Maybe I'll get lucky and he'll show this morninging. Killed a good pig too so it's been ok for me.

I shot an 8 pt. on a "day lease" opening day and no deer since. I have hunted in Maverick County (3 days), at Aransas National Wildlife Refuge (5 1/2 days), in Dickens County (2 days), in Kent County (4 days), and at the Chapparal Wildlife Management Area (4 days). I was able to shoot a couple pigs on two of those hunts but no opportunities at legal deer except the one on opening day.
I do have a local property I can go and possibly shoot a doe or spike during the extended season.....and I am going to try to get on standby at one more TPWD drawn hunt before the season is over.....so all hope is not lost.
I am thankful for the opportunities I've had to get out there and hunt with old friends and, in a couple instances, meet new ones. It could be worse

Same here. Been a tough run, not seeing the quality or age this year. We had poor rains this spring so that's part to blame but the lack of mature movement....not exactly sure.

                  Slowest season I can remember...

Every deer we have killed has had a layer of fat covering its body. We had a horribly dry Summer, a warm wet Fall, and a later than normal acorn crop.
Years of drought has taken it's toll as well.

Deer activity is finally picking up here at the very end of the season and we are seeing 5-12 deer per hunt vs. 1 or 2 or nothing at all!

Bad in San Saba also, at least where I hunt. I hunted pigs 90% of the time but didn't see many deer (while it was light outside) while hunting. Only saw one good buck at 1am and none on camera. Totally different than last year.

Pigs numbers at feeders are down 80-90% from last year but I can hear them all over the place. I just think there were too many acorns to start and then there was a bumper long lasting pecan crop and other plants to eat.
