    AQHA Question

I bought a colt and am trying to register him online, I have never had to register one before, I have always bought horses with papers already. Anyways I can't figure out what I am doing wrong or what I need to do, when I go to select his dam, it says the dam can only be selected by the owner/leasee/agent? What do i do?

You need to get the people you bought the colt from to register him.

If the horse has never been officially registered (issued a registration number and named) then you can not do it online. The breeder of the horse has to do it. If you bought the horse from the breeder it shouldn't be that big of a deal. If the horse has changed hands a couple of times from the original owner then it will be a pain in the butt and cost you quite a bit of money. If I were you I would start by contacting the breeder. If you have any other questions about getting him registered let me know. Maybe I can help. I usually register 15 or so a year

Yep. Solid direction from the GS. We had to sign an affidavit on my cutting horse bc we couldn't get the original owner to sign...bc he'd changed hands prior to me getting him.
