Had another yearly hunt for another website client Hebbronville Deer Hunting. I maintain their website and Facebook in trade I can get a trophy hunt out of it. This was my second trip back went after Thanksgiving and deer were hardly moving no rut activity times have been weird down there this is a low fence ranch about 25,000 acres. So I head back day after Christmas with the intention of hunting till we find something. That afternoon we head out early to corn some roads on the way and scout the pastures. My guide Danny tells me the afternoon hunt we will be hunting a pasture called the Mala Suerte which means (Bad Luck) not very assuring. As we head to this pasture we are in some really thick stuff and thought this could be good if I was a big buck this is the type of place I would hideout in. We settle into the blind and immediately we get about 8 javelinas. 10mins later we have a nice buck to the side of us gives us just a quick look and runs off he notices this buck and says hes a 13pt 150class all we can do is hope he circles back. About 4:30 we have two does and two small young 8pts. When all of sudden he says big buck Im like where I cant see it he's like right there for about 5 mins I can't see him he says its a good buck get ready still looking nothing then here he comes chasing a doe and hes a awesome 10pt looks to be 150-160 class the doe starts feeding in the sendero and he follows he's giving me not shot...Then here runs off to run the two 8 pts the big buck wont have any part of them around we are both thinking crap he's gonna push the doe out and run off. Danny says get ready soon as he stops and you have a shot take him. Sure enough he comes back to his doe just as he steps out of the brush he's broadside and stops for just a second enough for me to line up and pull the trigger on my .270 solid hit he makes a mad dash then makes a u-turn and then drops not 30yrds away. He's a big slick 10pt almost perfect buck. After breakfast we take him to Freer where Muy scores him at 161 1/8". Did I mention this is low fence buck, I'm pretty proud of this buck!
