    It's pretty chilly out here!

Anybody else sittin' this morning? My phone says it's 34 in Llano, but if feels colder than that to me. Maybe it's just the humidity. Sittin' out here freezing my backside off and haven't seen a thing. It's been a very strange season for us. Our deer are almost exclusively nocturnal. I've only missed 3 weekends since the start of bow season. That being said, I've got more time in the stand than I've ever had in one season, by far. And, I think I've seen less deer this year than at least the last 5 years we've been on this lease. I just need to get at least one more deer in the freezer and I've been skunked the last 3 weekends in a row. I'll see deer at the feeder before its light enough to get good ID on them. Then, they're gone before its light enough. Rod and Courtney came out to help Cowdog track a deer he shot a couple weeks back. They described much of the same activity at their place. They hunt a little ways west of Llano. I forget exactly where. Anyone else had the same thing going on? Sorry for the the lengthy read and getting off subject.

Good luck. Have you considered setting timer to go off a little later in the morning?

      Stay warm.
I used to hunt that much before wife and kids . No I go when I can.
Is it possible you have worn out your setups with so many hunts.
Acorns causing them to not hammer feeders.
      Good luck!

I guess we need to, but at this point, why change it? I don't think they'll get adjusted in time? I should have changed it a few weeks back as sunrise started getting later.

Maybe two feedings morning and evening. I would arrive early and hand corn more close to me just upwind

Yea I thought the same thing as you... where did all my deer go?! This is the first season I haven't hunted a feeder, figured id try something different. So ive set stands on trails that my cameras have shown good deer on, and bam seen nicer bucks than ever. Plus it's just fun to try another hunting style. I will probably never hunt a feeder again, just hand corn and plant oats. I'm liking this and hoping the deer don't return to feeders, that way my lazy neighbors don't shoot all the young nice bucks!!

We do feed twice a day. 6:45 & 4:45. Not seeing deer in the evening either. But, while walking back to camp, we'll get blown at or hit them with a light. Of course we're sitting until totally dark. They're just not moving until after dark.

I've done a bit of this this year too. It's been lots of fun, though I've not killed anything this way yet. I will be doing more thorough scouting this coming year to specifically hint more efficiently this way.

Yea same here, my first year to try it definitely funner than sitting in a blind all day. I wasn't really set up for it this year, so I didn't get to make a blind or hang a tree stand on these trails. But I will be prepared next season!!

Doggone! No tree for me today. Got the boomstick out, sitting in a box. Need to get one more in the freezer. So, I'm "cheating." If you're not cheating, you're not trying as my younger brother use to say.

Try turning off feeder for one feed period.
