    That kind of season...

Had a nice group of axis come in before sun up at about 6:50. There was a good buck in the group, couldn't tell how big but he dwarfed the 6 or so does he was with. I knew it would be close with the amount of corn I threw out, that they could eat it all before good shooting light. I was cussin Mother Nature to turn the lights on! Well just when I got enough light a fox run through and spooked the axis...ugh. Oh well, still a Good way to start the New Years. Happy New Years everyone!

Not real sure on shot. he ran 50 yards stopped and did what I thought was a wobble then went in brush. We will see. Giving him time.

It was not a trophy. Can't quite tell if it was the one from earlier or not. He is in velvet, not real big horn wise, but will be great meat. My friend is selling this place so he gave me the green light on anything with fur and a heartbeat. I backed out, sittin in the truck with the dog warming up. It's cold here in Boerne, ice on the tall grass!

I'm going to grab my arrow in 10 minutes. I've never had a deer run 50 yards stop and disappear, I think he's down, going to be really sneaky tho just in case.

Bet he is laying where you think you saw him wobble. I have seen that before when I shot a deer, and it was right at the last spot I saw it. Good luck on the recovery and don't forget pics are mandatory!
