Long story short, I shot a doe this morning. As I released my arrow the doe turned and my shot ended up back. I followed a blood trail for a long time until it ran out. I began reaching out to find a dog in the area. I reached Jim and Jamie Wilhelm. "Keep" and "Keeps's Keeper" on TBH. They were tied up and could not come. They gave me several other folks to try. Late this afternoon, Jamie called to see if I had any luck. When I told her no, she quickly said they would come help. She was about an hour and a half away. Shortly after, Jim called and said he was closer and would pick up their dog Rein and head right over. There was about 2 hours of daylight left. When they arrived, I took them to the spot were I shot the deer. Rein quickly picked up the trail and took off. She never stopped and finally after about a mile and a half of winding back and forth in the thick brush, Rein walked right up on the deer as if she knew where she was going the entire time. I can't thank Jim, Jamie and especially Rein for their help. I was so frustrated all day at the thought of losing and wasting that animal even if it was a doe. The recovery ended with Rein being rewarded with the heart of the deer after I field dressed it. She was one proud and happy pup. Well deserved. Thanks again for the help from the Green Screen.
