I have a game bull whisper. Gamo scope wouldn't group, so I put a Nikon on it and it shoots great now.

I have tried many pellet guns in my day, with a limited budget I have found my beeman rs2 to to be the best. It comes with .77 and .22 barrels that you can switch out in with one allen bolt in seconds. The scope is great unlike most airguns ive bought from academy. Out of five or six gamos my friends have had, none of the scopes were worth a darn, my beeman is still dead on like the day I bought it 5yrs ago. My best friend/hunting buddy has the same gun, weve had them for about 5 years no problems with no problems. Many skunks, squirrels, and rabbits have been taken with them. Very accurate too, can hit a quarter at 25 yards consistently. Runs around 150$.
Only shoot predator polymags, best pellet in my opinion for any small game.

I wish Academy would stock the RWS line in their stores. Yes, some of their air rifles are okay, but all they have are .177 mass-produced stuff. For about the same $ - you can get a .22 cal. RWS 34 that will blow the doors off anything they sell at Academy.

having said that - if you can order on line (they can ship air rifles to your door with no issues) you have some "decent" choices.

I'd be inclined to get one of these in .25 caliber

Yes, the .25 pellets have to be ordered, but that's not really a big deal. The .25 caliber packs a whallop and is perfect for hunting small game.

If you're on a budget, I'd recommend this one

The Nitro Piston is very smooth shooting. Not as powerful as some springers, but pleasant to shoot and pretty accurate.

When you decide on a rifle, don't skimpnon the pellets. Then higher end ones improved the accuracy for my sons air rifle substantially.

I have a Ruger Magnum that shoots great and I have killed many animals with it. I don't think Academy carries it though. I bought mine from Cabelas.

i have the same gun, its an awesome and accurate gun. i use the gamo rocket pellets. squirrels dont stand a chance with that thing. i have the .177 barrel because when i pulled the .22 barrel down in the summer, my sweaty hands slipped off the barrel and the barrel flew up and bent.

I worried about it too, but for no reason. My RWS 34 and B-Square adjustable mount are a match made in air rifle heaven.

I don't know if academy carries them or not but I have a Beeman that comes with a scope and 2 barrels ( .177 & .22 ). Break over barrel and is/has been very accurate over the 2 years I've had it

It pushes .177 right at 1100 fps and the .22 around 850 fps.
I've killed many raccoons, possums, rabbits, etc......
                          Cost me right at $100

It really is a great gun for the money. Dead accurate, nice stock, and great scope. As for the bent barrel lol DO NOT PULL THE TRIGGER when barrel is down! Thing flung up so freakin hard lol, bent the life out of it hahah. It was shooting to the sky after. Luckily they let me return for a new one. Ever since then I cock it slowly. Certainly theres better, but mine has exceeded my expectations for it.
