Why no does for late youth season?

I am curious, Why are does allowed in the late muzzloader season but not the late youth season that runs the same days? I would understand if no does were legal that late considering most of them are bred, but it seems to me that if anyone would be allowed to take them it would be kids. With as accurate and far reaching as modern scoped muzzleloaders are they don't seem to be much more of a challenge than a single shot rifle (I know reload time is longer but how often should a follow up shot really be needed ?)

I assume there is a valid reason I am overlooking, like possibly numbers if hunters in each category or something.

TPWD has a dart board they use to decide these high level decisions.

What I don't like is the fact that it seems unclear for late youth season.
Anderson county- no mld or lamps permits required thanksgiving dates and muzzle loader or archer season. Then it says "all other times nov 1-26 and dec 1- jan 4 antlerless maybe taken by MLD permit or LAMPS permits only."

So what about youth season jan 5-18? I can assume no does without permit then but why not just make it clear by saying no does during late youth?

I was under the impression last year youth could take one. Glad we already killed a buck and didn't deer hunt in Jan.

I read over it last week. Looked like it was legal.

Why not just hand the kid the muzzleloader? Then it won't matter will it?

That would be your answer, and since they are a youth they could still take a legal buck with the muzzleloader.

Im sure it has been dicussed her before but the rules seem unclear. we also have a late youth season and muzzleloader that are on during the same time. The way I read it you can only take a doe with a muzzleloader during that time. So I guess let the kids blast away with a 50. cal.

I'm not so sure what you mean by doe days. But in Chambers County it says that the restrictions on does are the same as the first two days of general season. So green light on does here.

I assume your in smith county. If there are doe days in your county (thanksgiving weekend for example) then the kids can take does during the late season. It's in the regs.

I hunt Cherokee county, So. our doe season ended after Thanksgiving.

My son is not shooting this year but will be next year. I was really just trying to understand the logic behind the law.

Looks like Cherokee is ok for does with muzzleloader or for youth season. It's Tpwd, sometimes there isn't any logic involved at all.

aside from reasoning behind regs (lord only knows) that its what is nice about using loose powder for the muzzies. I shoot 100gr (by VOLUME) out of my TC Triumph and it kicks worse than any shotgun or rifle I have ever shouldered. I mean it's brutal. I would be hard pressed to give it to anyone to shoot. Its as accurate as any high end rifle at 100yds (quarter size 3 shot group). Took me two years and a lot of pain to get it perfected.

That is how it was worded last year for Anderson county. I could find it last year online if I navigated through the correct path, but if I went a different way I couldn't not find that wording. Can you post the link to where is says same as Thanksgiving?

                              About Youth-only Seasons

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has established statewide Youth Only open seasons for deer, turkey, squirrel and, with cooperation of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, waterfowl. The purpose of these Youth Only open seasons is to provide youth with opportunities to learn about wildlife conservation through an enjoyable and memorable outdoor experience and allow parents and mentors to introduce them to safe and responsible hunting. The Youth Only open seasons hunts are scheduled to occur at times when youth are out of school.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department encourages experienced hunters to seek out youth and provide the guidance to make the event both enjoyable and educational for the beginning hunter.

Only licensed hunters 16 years of age or younger may hunt deer during a youth-only season.
