    Pars Defect

Pars Defect is the official name for my back injury. It comes from repetitive bending. It is a stress fracture in the first joint in the lumbar. Research says it is found a lot in gymnastics and football linemen. I'm figuring mine came from my occupation. If you know anything about machining, you'll know that running a lathe keeps you stooped over the majority of the time. Well, I've been running lathes for 38 years. I'm not considering it as a job related injury but just another hazard of the trade. Stuff happens. This does not show up in X-rays. It takes an MRI to detect it. I just wanted to let y'all have some information about it in case your suffering from lower back pain and you do a lot of bending. At my age this really is painful and sucks. Merry Christmas to everyone.
