    Trailer title question

Should a 1999 6x12 pace cargo trailer have a title? Or do they not come with titles?

It should have a title, Don't purchase it without one!

What is the trailer rated for? Last I checked anything over 4k requires a title.

GVRW has to be 7000# or more to get a title, at least that is what it is for utility trailers.

The one im looking at is a single axel so probably not in the higher gross weight range and might not need one.
Seller asked if we could do transaction at courthouse so he must be fairly legit.

              Thanks for the info guys

Mine is single too. I did a bill of sale and thats it when purchased. Actually came from a member here. Very easy at the title office for new tags. Good luck.

A "Pace" trailer will have a title! It had one when it was sold if it was in Texas.

I bought a factory built trailer in Oklahoma that did not have a title!

Something like a Bill of Origin.

You will get stopped pulling an obviously factory built trailer with something different in the system.

I got a trailer recovered that had a home built tag put on it due to an observant DPS trooper.

If it is a single axle then the GVWR is probably 3500#. Most trailers are built with 3500# rated axles.

If no title is required, it should at least have a " Certificate of Origin ". Just went through this a couple months ago. Tax office can help you out !

It was probably never registered with the title. Get the vin number and go to tax office. They can pull up the history. Buy trailer and get inspection on it by county theft officer. Pretty easy ordeal.
