    Diesel DPF delete?

Ive been wanting to get back into a 3/4 ton truck for a while, and have been toying with the idea of upgrading to a diesel. I would be looking at a 2011 or newer, for various reasons. I know the older ones without all the emissions crap are better on fuel, but I just cant justify paying notes on a trucks that old, and my credit union wont finance anything that old anyway. So, looks like I will be stuck with one that has all the emissions garbage.

I know there are advantages to doing the DPF and EGR deletes, and the increase in fuel efficiency will easily pay for the cost of the mods, but only if I can keep from receiving several thousand dollars in fines. My question is, how do you guys who have deleted diesels keep from getting caught?

I am not planning on spewing black clouds of soot all over the country and doing ignorant burnouts on public roads, so being pulled over isn't much of a concern, but I know its still possible because I cant guarantee that I wont have a brain fart and do something illegal, like speeding. So if I do get pulled over, what are the odds that a state trooper would want to look under my truck to check out the exhaust?

What about inspections. I know a lot of places probably wont even look, and emissions testing isn't mandated where I am. But, what if I go to a place that decides to check? Is that a situation where they report me or just fail me and charge me the cost of inspection?

If I can get a diesel to put up mpg numbers near 20, I can justify the extra cost of ownership, but I don't want to spend all my fuel savings on fees and fines. Im not a trouble maker, or a rule breaker (often), so Im just looking for input.

as of right now there are no inspections on diesels....HOWEVER from what my dad heard at the dodge dealership the other day that is about to change and all the guys with the deletes are going to be hurting very bad. Once Texas switches over to just the registration sticker and having to pass an inspection prior to getting said sticker.

I'm interested to hear what people know about that

i'm not deleted... yet. but from what i've read so far. the guys living in places where there are inspections, they just switch back to stock, then back again.

i have a feeling that all the counties that already have emission testing for gas will prob do diesel also (like harris), but would be shocked if all the little country mom and pop shops are made to do it. that would be a lot of equipment to buy.

gut feeling it will start in the big cities first waay before it moves out of town.

but ive been know to be wrong b4

Yeah, I have heard about the new inspection/registration policy and was wondering exactly what changes were going into effect.

            Diesel DPF delete?

The new thing to do is hollow out the factory dpf this way it looks like it is still stock. Buddy of mine is the GM for a ford dealership here in corpus an thieves stole the stock DPF's off of 19 f250 an f350 truck in one night. They also stole something like 26 from another dealership.

Biggest deal with deleting is that it voids your warranty. This is the only reason I haven't deleted mine. May want to look into that as well.

That's something else I wondered about. I know some people used to do that with cats on a gasser, if they had to pass a visual inspection without a sniffer test.

Honestly, with the cost associated with these things, if I buy one its gonna be close to the end of its warranty, either in age or miles. I would definitely wait until the warranty runs out though.

They look under your truck to see if you have dpf(cat) an won't pass you if it is removed. I have had mine deleted for three years now an have not had any trouble with inspections, usually go to the smaller mom & pop shops that I know won't crawl under the truck or has a oil drain bay.

I have had warranty work done on my truck... Most techs at a dealership work off job commission an don't care if it's gone. If they don't do the work they don't get paid.I have since extended my warranty, I ask for the same tech all the time I go an I usually give him a tip

Depending on what's all done to the truck.

What you need is one of those $100 inspection stickers if it comes down to that

Or a brand new inspection sticker on one of your other vehicles peel-off real easy too!

                            Jus sayin'

i have a 2011 Duramax LML, full delete and tuned by motor ops in Canada. i left the Urea tank in place and kept all my old stuff just in case. I will convert the original cat to a hollow one later this year just for resale purposes. I LOVE the delete and wouldn't go back no matter what.
