    Ice soaking question

I know that there are a multitude of ways to prep/age meat that I have read. I got a small buck last night and have it soaking in ice water draining slowly I was told to do this over night.

I looked it up and have seen that people that do it this way let keep adding ice for upwards to 3 days ....

Is today too early to pull a piece out and enjoy the fruits of my torment (thought he was a 6 pt cull but he ended up just being a 6 point that got into some helluva mangling not to mention I thought I shot high)

But anyway any advice on the ice soaking method?

    He is already quartered up

    Thanks

I wouldn't soak in ice water. Id keep covered on ice and drain the water daily. You don't want the meat sitting in water and absorbing the blood coming back out. My last deer I had on ice for 6 days. Came out awesome.

        Yep!!!
Just keep it on ice and the water drained off. I keep mine in the cooler for at least 7 days.

I have done it 9 days but definitely don't prefer that. 3-5 usually. Keep the drain plug cracked open so it drains but no bugs can crawl up in there and you are good to go. Don't open it often and add ice when needed

I keep mine iced for an average of 7-10 days, but never let it "soak" in water.
