    Web site cost?

For those of you that have web sites, what is a typical cost for a standard web site. Nothing fancy, just a plain site. Also, startup cost and monthly cost...

    Facebook is free! Lol

I have yet to set my business site up and dont even have a Facebook but wife does for her business. I researched a little and was quoted $200-$250 to get it started. Not sure on monthly cost. Just figured I would go with Facebook when I decided too.

Sorry im no help. Will be following to see what others say. Good luck.

For a basic site with templates, you can get started for next to nothing through Vistaprint. I made mine through them, www.mrknives.com and I think I pay $25/month but in not exactly sure. That cost includes a mobile site as well.

I have roughly $2500 in mine but I have more bells and whistles than a lot of sites do that my buddy built even though I havnt put those whistles to use yet lol. It's going to depend on how it's done and how they promote it. Lots of options on websites,

If your looking to have one built pm me and I'll put you in touch with my buddy, he builds them for a living "He's The Best I've Seen" but does some on the side and he's a bartering madman. If you have something to trade he more than likely will hook you up!!

Thank you both, I am in the beginning process of a new business if all of my homework computes. It may be a few months from now, but this is part of my homework trying to make sure all of my expenses will not be too high so there will be enough profit.

All I pay is $100 a year for the hosting and about $20 bucks every 2 years for the domain name. Once it's up and running the cost is minimal.

Just curious, what business are you getting into?

Also, a word of advice...If you have a website name in mind go ahead and reserve the domain name. It costs only a few dollars and it's nice to know that no one else can take it. I bought my domain name 6-8 months before I even started on my website.

I have just a dab over $3000.00 in mine. That is fancy and is interactive with flowing graphics, etc... I did one before myself for cheap with yahoo site builder and hosting is just a fee bucks a month.

Godaddy.com. Check it out the prices are extremely lower than those listed above.

I am going to go with godaddy. Their templates are pretty limited especially when it comes to storefront style sites. Its $30 a month. Comes with everything you need for payment processing/shopping cart etc. The downside is their templates are not customizable and pretty cut and dry. But for startups it seems like the best move. Later on I can upgrade to a custom site.

I looked at local site builders and it was going to cost between $2500 - 4500 to build. Maintenance costs were between 700 and 1000 a year. It just kept adding up. Not to say it isn't worth it but funds are limited when starting a business.

If selling products- use shopify. http://www.shopify.com/?ref=elliott-media

Plans as low as $14/m 100's of templates -very easy to get started. inventory management ,domains, taxes, reports, shipping, apps, and payment processing all built in. 14 day free trial. I have a developer account with them and if you need longer than 14 days to get the site built or need some help let me know and it can be started from my developer account which gives unlimited time to build the store.

Thanks, I thinking about going into custom blind and feeder business. My wife is doing very well and she has been trying to get me to get a different job due to we both travel and she makes twines as much as me. We have 2 small kiddos and my current job when it comes to travel it is not much of a choice, just got to go. I have always enjoyed building stuff and I can start it from my own shop, I already have most tools I need so not too much startup cost. The good thing is I can afford the time to make it work, she makes enough as is. I also can contract out to the company I currectly work for or the is another company they have been begging me to come over and work for. So I got most things lined out, just don't want to start it full time during the slow time of year.

I went with GoDaddy last year and they built it for about $1100. I am meeting with a guy Monday and he is going to do a new one for about $1500 and have a lot more on it

Bowtech, if you do start a business like you described be sure to consider becoming a site sponsor here. I've used several guys thru TBH and have been very happy with every one of them.

A good custom website will start around $3000 and go up. The range depends entirely on what functionality you want with the site. There are plenty of themes and templates you can go with if budget is a concern. That said, search ranking is important, and cheap / free themes don't take any of your content into consideration.
