    Paying for my younger days.

First off, I will say that I would not change a thing I've done in my life. It seem's that everything I had for hobby's or did just for fun were rough on my body. I started playing Pop Warner football when I was 10yrs old. Played football up untill 10th grade. Back then, there was no type of weight training or real prep before a game. You just showed up and played. In 10th grade I got into steer wrestlin. Between jammin my legs into the ground and face plants (which happened more than not), I tore myself up pretty good. Got out of school and went to work. Got into riding and racing dirt bikes. Just more damage to the knee's and back. Even the less stressful things I did were usually taken to the extreme. Couldn't just scuba dive like most. Had to get into underwater salvage and search and rescue.

Well, yesterday I was diagnosed with severe arthritis in my lower back and hips. I have had shooting pains that go from my hip all the way down to my toes on my right side. I have used up my time off for the year, so I will just have to tough it out until January and get more time off. I'm setting up an appointment with a pain specialist on Monday hoping for some relief. Sorry for the long read, but gettin old sucks!

63 here, and feel the accumulated pains as well. As for changing things I'd of never touched a football or got on a horse if I'd of known how it would affect me now.

I'm sorry to hear this cuz it sucks to live with pain like that. I'm glad you included the "I wouldn't change a thing" part to your narrative. The stuff you did probably did contribute to your health problems, but I also know guys who didn't compete in any harmful physical activities, yet still ended up with the health problems you have. Wouldn't that suck even worse?

Dirt bikes, horses, car wreck, helicopter crash, broken bones, construction, equipment noise, big guns, little guns, explosives, helo casting, repelling and the list goes on. Beat up and don't hear so well either

You got some cool stories right? Would hate to think you spend all that time living, and then die of nothing. Hope you start feeling better buddy.

You got that right my brutha! It's the memories that make it all worth it. Traveled to a lot of places and met a lot of folks along the way.

Football holds many of the best memories for me. It let me meet a lot of my childhood hero's. Got to meet Mickey Mantle, Tom Landry, Bob Lilly and many more. Without football, these would have never happened.

I know what you're talking about. I've got two bad knees, two bad shoulders, a bad elbow, an iffy back and my wrists and hands are getting pretty bad. But it's been a helluva ride !!!!

Randy, it's easier to tell ya' where I don't hurt than to list where I hurt.. But like I told my daughter when she was fussin' about us spending her inheritance on the new trailer... I fully intend to slide into death just as I came into this world.. Feet first (yes I was a breech baby) and broke.. screaming "hold my beer and watch this"...

You sound like me. My neck, shoulders and back....they gone. I wouldn't change a thing either...just the way I was built. No regrets.

48 this year. Hockey, football, baseball and motorcycles. In fact I still ride large adventure biks on rides such as the Trans American Trail. In March I had my 5th knee surgery and in June I rode the Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail. Yep my body hurts bad at times but life makes that pain worth it!

Life shouldn't be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely, in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather, to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly shouting, Holy **** What a ride!

Yep Bursitus in both shoulders. Degenerative disk decease. Both knees bad. Bad neck. All at 47. I still have not slowed down. Aleve is my friend

Never walk threw the pearly gates of heaven. Slide threw them screaming thank you God. What a ride.
