This. Just an open invitation to get pulled over.

In Texas it is. Not all states require them, but here in Texas we do.

Like everyone has said, yes you need a front LP. Also on the dash in windshield does not count! The law reads that it has to be affixed to the front of the vehicle. This has been upheld by the TX court of criminal appeals.

And the case that established it was a pretty good one.

How many did they issue you? You think they're just being nice and giving you a spare one?

Yes, in Texas you are required to have two.

My plastic license plate holder on my front bumper fell off and I drove it for months without a plate until a DPS officer stopped me, I explained the situation showed him the damage on my bumper and wrote me a warning. I got pulled over later by a local police officer for speeding, he walked to the front came back and said I see you have your front license plate issue resolved. I thought warnings were just that I had know clue they actually put the into the system like a citation.
