I got all mine at REI. None of it is cheap. Rope. Harness and ascenders. I will probably never use it again but who knows.

Not sure what you are wanting to do, but for most tree stand type work hunter safety system life line is hard to beat. Very nice for getting you and gear up and down a tree.

From what I am reading needing a rope grab and a 6 ft shock absorbing lanyard and a 50ft rope with snap hook ends...

carabiners (oval/D rings) - most at REI are rated at 16kN and above, FYI 1kN = 224lbs-force

50' of rope isn't much and I wouldn't trust tying off on some of those chases in track home neighborhoods. Some of them are just toe nailed up there and you lean em em the wrong way diagraming the roof they fall off into the front yard!! I would have enough to go over the roof and tie off to my truck or a tree or something solid. Slide a piece of hose over the rope at the ridge or something similar to keep it from getting chaffed. I think I had a 200' line.

If you are in Irving, try Whitecap Construction Supplies. It is on Grauwyler just east of Loop 12. They have the safety equipment you need.
