The breeder he went to is also out of business. He directed me to one out of Houston. I don't know anything about them. http://www.monarchcbr.com

Chessies crack me up. Loyal and lovable to their owners, but treat everyone else like common criminals. Their owners typically love them and nobody else can stand them. Chessie owners are just as loyal as their dogs though. I've hunted over a couple of buddy's Chessies and they were always fine retrievers....with a giant chip on their shoulder.
Good luck in your search. Hope you find the perfect retriever.

I'm not doubting you but, my experience is completely different. Absolutely loyal to the family. Protective but not aggressive. She loves to be around people but does not demand to be center of attention. We took her to many, many baseball games and tournaments. Kids of all shapes and sizes would pet her with no problem. But you are correct about one thing, she is pretty indifferent to strangers. They can pet her or not pet her; it doesn't matter to her. Maybe it's a male vs. female thing. My brother-in-laws female is the same way.Last edited by Rush2Judge; 12-05-2014, 06:37 PM.

Marks a lot Kennels
Marks A lot Kennels in Caddo Mills, 30 mins from Dallas. They had some had some great Chesapeakes around 2 years ago when they trained my Chessie. They have their own chessies and the other trainers have chessies too, so they know how to deal with them. They have a female they breed who is a hunting and show champ, she is skilled and great looking. They don't have anything on their website but they may not be updating it anymore. http://www.marksalot.com/index.htm
My Chessie is very friendly with any person to where it is annoying bc he just wants some love and to play. He is aggressive when he has his food, bone, or toy. But his aggressiveness is really just growling very deep then he just moves to a different area... They are vocal and howl to talk to you and great you. Energetic so have a yard and take him to hunting camp. I will probably only have chessies for the rest of my life, but next time i'm getting a female.
