    Can I freeze a Brisket?

I'll be smoking a brisket for Christmas. I'm at my local butcher and he has a pretty good deal on some Prime Briskets right now and I'd like to pick up a few of them. I've never frozen one before. I usually buy and cook immediately. I'd assume it's fine to freeze it just like any other meat right?

Awesome. thanks guys. I'd hate to take a chance on an assumption when you spend that much on meat.

As long as it's sealed, yes. My FIL does this every time he sees them on sale and I have never been able to tell. I wouldn't do it for a competition or anything but for home use, sure. I would cook it within 3 months if possible and 6 months for sure.

You can freeze any meat then cook it later.

You can also cook it first and then freeze it. I do it all the time to take to friends in the Northeast.

You have to freeze it standing up on ends so as to not displace the fat that gives it flavor.

                      Does a fat dog fart?

                        Absolutely!

Be sure to give it plenty of time to thaw out when it's time to cook

yep go for it. It seems to taste better once it is cooled down and frozen and have it later on down the road.

Negative ghost rider. Fat cap down so the fat cap adsorbs the juices
