My male Catahoula had been barking several times tonight and I never saw any thing. The drive way alarm went off several time and I went out looking each time nothing. around 1230 amI went to bed and a few minutes later alarm goes off again. This time I run to front door and step out with stinger flashlight. Saw the hind quarters of hog go into cow pen from yard. I grabbed pant, shirt, cap and boots.I had to get tomy truck where I had my 1187 special purpose shotgun loaded with 3" 00 buck....I walked into cow pen and towards my hay lot by not using any flashlight I saw the hogs 30-40 yds away. I turn on the light and shot . There were two hogs next to each other due flash from shot gun and trying to hold light in one hand and shotgun in other I didn't see if I hit but the squeal said I did. One either ran towards pasture or is dead out there but one went into middle of oat patch.it was a long shot but I hit him again and another squeal. I came back to house and picked up another flashlight then went to trailing hog in oat patch. After 200 yd trail I had it jump up out of my coastal field and I hit him with another shot. This time I figured I will wait till morning and daylight to take up the trail and I did find blood in the oat patch........Andy

Went out this morning and found a hog laying at edge of coastal field I last saw him in last night. As I got within 20 yds of him one of his ears lifted up then he sat up. I picked a spot just behind his ear and sent a 80 grain hornaday bullet into it. No more walking throught my yard and waking me up at night.....Andy

I do feral hog control on a local place -- 57 ac. The guy who runs cows on it cuts me off in October as he rifle hunts deer. Well, he called me last week and told me to get after them as they have rooted about 30% of the upper pasture--maybe 10 ac. Went out and moved the trap yesterday and put out a good bit of yellow bait but didn't set the trap. Headed out in a few to check for visitors and to set the trap if they've been inside already.
