The deer in the first picture is a young fallow. The "sheath" is a give a way. The deer in holdem's picture is a sika...white rump, wedge shaped head, and enlongated antler pedicles.

100% that its a 2year old chacolate fallow buck. Most fallow at 2 years of age never show any palmation until they are 3. You can also see the extra hair on his male parts. There is a faint line of spots across the middle part of his body. I am 100% its a young fallow buck.
The deer in Holdem post is a yearling sika buck. There are 12 different spices of sika. This one looks to have spots above its tail head meaning it might be a Dybowski and Japanese cross or a Mesiptainian Jap cross.Last edited by krazykritters; 01-14-2007, 01:28 AM.

Now your asking for a lot. The last pic might possibly be a formosin sika (check spelling) or it might also be a Dyboski sika. Formosin sike usually show the spots a lot more than a Dyboski. Is kind of hard to tell. As he gets older you should be able to tell the defference due to the body size. The dyboski will be a lot bigger animal almost comparable to a young Red deer. This pic before the one with spots is a Japanesee sika a much more common sub species of sika in texas. However it might very well be a chocolate fallow. Both are yearlings. If you had another angle of the first pic i could be more deffenent.
