SO I finally got to go on a hunt, nothing guaranteed, it was around ANF right before Zavala and I knew the land well. I had a friend, older man Nam Vet and was in real bad shape that use to take me to his 35 acres and hunt all but 1 week of the whole season and that was only so I could drive him back to go to the dr. I loved this place and missed it deeply. So I get a call lastnight night "wanna go hunt" dumbest question ever.. We get there and unloaded, almost 7:45 and I head to the stand that no ones been in for atleast 3-4 yrs., sit down and get ready for the weather to warm up and the wasp to come out (that's my time to leave). The squirrels were in FULL force today, inside the stand, on it they didn't seem to care I was sitting there ready to shoot one of them. I start looking around and I swear I see a deer, she moves and it seemed like the gun appeared in my hands and I was already aiming.
So as of today I have 2 first.. out of my 8 yrs of hunting.
1) killed a deer with a muzzle loader
2) killed a doe
I have meat in the freezer and still 2 more doe days left, should be going back there tomorrow and I just got my replacement from truglo so now it's time to see if it'll work, maybe tomorrow I can say to took one with my bow.
I know she isn't very big, but there was a good amount of meat on her and a pretty hide. She has been thanked and will be put to the beast of use.
