    wow austin shooting

Here is a breakdown of the events of Friday's downtown shooting, offered by Chief Acevedo during his 9:30 a.m. press conference.

Chief Acevedo says the first 911 call came during a "very busy time" in downtown Austin, right after the bars closed.

2:22 a.m.- First 911 call of shots fired in the vicinity of 4th and Neches.
2:24 a.m. - Reports of Automatic Weapon Fire
2:28 a.m.- Reports of gunshots at Federal Courthouse
    2:29 - 911 call regarding Mexican Consulate
2:32 a.m.- APD HQ comes under heavy attack by suspect. Extensive damage to APD. Chief says more than 100 rounds fired at the building.
2:33 a.m.- Officer who was putting horses away from Mounted patrol hears gun fire, turns and sees suspect firing, and while holding 2 horses, draws weapon with other hand and fires a single shot at suspect. Suspect goes down (still unconfirmed if officer’s shot took him down or is suspect fired on himself) Officer since identified as 15 year veteran of force Sgt. Adam Johnson.
2:34 a.m.- Officer approaches wounded suspect, notices suspicious cylinders in vehicle and begins to drag suspect away. Officer then notices a vest of unspecified type on suspect, disengages, leaving suspect on ground, and immediately clears area calling for Bomb Squad.
2:41 a.m. I-35 shutdown and APD Headquarters evacuated.

Chief Acevedo says the suspect died on scene while the bomb squad was investigating.

BB&T Bank on West 5th Street was also damaged in the shooting.

Police say the suspect also tried to ignite the Mexican Consulate on fire with portable propane cylinders.

The suspect, described as an Austin resident in his 50s, has a previous criminal history, police say.

The suspect's body and vehicle were cleared by the APD bomb squad.

Good for the officer. Took down the bad guy and didn't become a casualty while doing it.

Glad to see this seems to have turned ok with no civilians or officers injured or killed... From what I just read, could have been a whole lot worse.

I think that is what is known as "gun control" on the part of the officer.

Thats right every one in Austin is a vegetarian, just like every one in Ferguson is black, jobless, and destroying the city.
