which would you choose and why............

After the first of the year I am going to purchase a new "deer lease ride" I am not 100% certain as to exactly what I am going to buy. The only thing that I am certain of is that it will be used.
The lease is very accessible in as much as getting to the stands and feeders is concerned. Any stand can be very easily gotten to via 2 wheel drive pick up and every feeder and all 10 protein feeders can be accessed very easily by the same 2 wheel drive 1/2 ton pick up.
There are some acres.......prolly 400 or so...... in the very northwest part of the property that are remote and you need a smallish but rugged 4 wheel drive to access. It has some awesome stick and string hunting and I am the only one of the lease members that dares go hunt in there.
Other than that, I honestly believe that you could drive a prius to 7 of the 10 different stands. and a 2 wheel drive truck to the others but a atv, utv, or small 4 wheel drive does make things easier and more practical.

what would you go with and why?

    used 4 wheeler
    used side by side
or a small 4 wheel drive vehicle ie......Suzuki Samarai, S-10 blazer, etc.....

Small 4wd vehicle. I love having AC, heat, hauling capacity, etc. See if you can find an older Tacoma.

I'd look for a 10-15 year old Yota or Jeep, they're not cheap in good shape but in 5-10 years will still be worth considerably more than an ATV / UTV and have heat / AC.

From the sounds of things if you could find one of these or similar in a stock condition, all you would need is some quality AT tires and hit the trails.

JMO...I don't really care for long treks in the cold in an ATV.

I was lucky enough to find an old farm truck from one of my customers. '97 F-250 regular cab with a flat bed. 5 speed 4WD. Added a removable game hoist to the bed and some extra lights. Love it. Short enough wheel base to get around in. Street legal with heat and air. Got it for $3800. Heck of a deal.

We had a mule and a nissan 4WD p/u on our lease. I drove the p/u and not the mule - just my preference. Also, it had a hitch hauler and the road feeder which made it much more flexible.

I love my 900 Polaris, hated my 800. I can see where a small 4wd pickup would be nice to have, Pickup or the 900 either would work.

I use a 1988 Isuzu Trooper, I get more room for gear and dogs and have the heater.

Any used vehicle like a s10 is cheaper than a **** four wheeler or side by side. That's what I'm going to get for next year. I'm not spending 5 grand on a 10 yr old four wheeler!
