What Connection Speed Is Ideal (Internet)

So we've had Cable for our internet connection and am currently on the "Low" speed offering at ~7 MBPS up and down. Thinking of going to their X1 platform and debating between their 50 or 105 MBPS Plan. Will I even notice a difference going to either one after using this speed so long?

what do you do? do you stream movies and videos? netflix? online gaming?

if all you do is browse the web save yourself money and stick to what you got. why do you want to upgrade? experiencing problems?

We have 6mb DSL and we can stream 2 Netflix while 5-6 people surf the web (not Youtube) without too many issues...if my son plays online games at the same time then it buffers. Youtube sucks more bandwidth worse than Netflix, Prime or Hulu for us.

Keep in mind cable won't guarantee that speed.

^^^ This all the way. Why are you wanting the change? If you have several users streaming at the same time---then possibly. What is the price difference also? And your goal? If you are having to ask if you should you might not need to. When I upped our speed it was because I saw the need when we would see lag in netflix and such plus the price at the time wasn't really different.

            7 Mb/s slow?

I still recall the joy of installing my first 14.4 kbit/s modem.

            good times...
