    Computer Guru's.....

Looking at getting us a new desktop computer. My wife and I both use iPads for a lot of things but want to consolidate to one desktop instead of two laptops. Been looking at different models (PC) and am wondering what processor is better, HP A8 or the Dell i5? Also, I do a decent bit of video editing and photo editing. Both models I have looked at have 8gb memory and 1tb hard drive.

Dell or if there's an Altex near you, have them build you one.

Ok. Why? Dell built better or just the better processor?

For my purchase history, 12 years public school district(1,000s) to present gig, I have always been impressed with their pricing and primarily support. Granted, with the school system I had a little different support channel than the general public.

Truth be told, most brands all use the same processors(mainly Intel Core2, Duo i series etc), GPU, hard drives etc..even Macs are using Intel based hardware these days.

For the sake of comparison, Gateway is my 2nd favorite computer vendor... 1st is everybody else.

Dell...get a PC with the i7 processor and 8 gigs of ram. Pay more for a solid state hard drive too.

Intel I7 in a reputable box.

I've been impressed with HP & Dell systems. Both provide extended warranties, blow a SATA hard drive, they will replace it quickly. For a desktop, they typically last years and years if you keep them clean (dust inside - Can of Air blow down, let it dry - button up and start it back up).
