    I really screwed up!!!

Got in the stand on Saturday morning with high hopes of killing a deer named Boone. I hunt close to home and work and planned on it being a fairly short hunt due to me having a meeting at 11:00 a.m. My stand location is very unique because it sits high up on a creek bank overlooking a creek bottom that is about 20-30 feet below. This allows me to get in and out of the stand without disturbing any deer. There's also a ridge behind the stand that allows me to park within a hundred yards of the stand also without being detected. Basically, it's a dream setup because I don't disturb anything, even if I get out of the stand early. I think everyone sees where this is going.

Fast forward to 8:30 Saturday morning I started getting text from my wife telling me that my 2 year old was asking for me and that they wanted to see me before my meeting. I hadn't seen a thing and it was raining off and on so at 8:45 I decided to sneak up the ridge and go home.

I get home at 9:00 on the dot and started the oven to cook some breakfast, as soon as I turned on the burner I get the text from my Covert I hit the floor and about scared my 2 year old to death.

At 9:03 I missed the opportunity to fling an arrow at a deer that we estimate to go 165-170.

I feel your pain!!! Too bad you couldn't have had back strap for lunch with your two year old. Keep the faith- I hope it works out for you!

Breakfast with a 2 year trumps a big buck... that buck will be back. Gives you another reason to go back hunting.

Got better pics? Deer looks bigger than 165-170.

Just one of the reasons I do not have a camera
I'd be sick if I found out that my dream buck walked by right after I left
