    Headed to Chambers Ranch

For my first Game Ranch/Exotic hunt ever!!! I am excited to say the least! I have never been on a hunt like this. The group I am going with have been going every year for 15 or so years and I believe we have the ranch to ourselves (group).

Any tips or advice is appreciated.

No advice, but good luck. Have always thought about going out there, but never pulled the trigger on it. They are fairly close to me.

I hunted hogs there a couple of years ago. I killed a hog each evening I was there. Mr. Chambers is a "good ol' boy" and loves bowhunting. He really loves stick bow hunters! I'm not sure how much effort they really put out toward the individual hunters, meaning that when I went, it was with a group of guys that had hunted there several times before and they pretty much knew the area and we hunted where we wanted to. A couple of other guys were there and they didn't seem to get too much "personal attention". They corned the road in front of you and that's about it.

The bunkhouse will keep the rain off of you and you probably won't get bitten by anything in there. Unless some serious work has been done on it in the last three years, that's about all I can say.

I did see a bunch of Axis deer while hog hunting, but not much else. I'm sure they're there though.

        Good luck.

You'll have a great time....hunt the area east of the camp house.
I think its called the Tikki blind.

Maurice has some great stories and be sure and wake Dustin up early...he loves it!

We usually go mid-December every year....we tried another place this year....I will be going back to Chambers next year!

Are you hunting the ranch in Sabinal? If so, I have been a few times.....always saw lots of animals....Maurice is a good guy too!! Best way we found to hunt the deer was to jump in the middle of the brush thickets and cut you just a little hole big enough to get an arrow through.....he has stands set up....but it seemed like every deer that stepped out, the first thing they would do is look up in that tree

Man this place is beautiful. I have heard negative things about the camp house and the folks giving the reviews must be in a different pay class than me because this is way nicer than what I expected for the price! Heck I didn't grow up In much better!

Seen a lot of critters so far this morning. Nice 8 point. Shot a doe. Seen axis and hogs so far. Not bad to me for $275 a day and 2hours into a hunt!

If it's the ranch near del rio I've heard good things. Good luck and let's see that doe

Seeing some big axis and even had one at 5 yds but didn't realize that you had to retrieve your animal before you shoot another.

Back in the stand for the evening hunt. Seen a nice 9 point from camp earlier. Wind is swirling. So wish us luck!
