Peanut oil vs blended -turkey deep fry?

Who uses the "blended" peanut oil for deep frying their turkey's ?

For years I have used Pure Peanut oil but the price of this stuff is getting plane stupid.

With the soybean blend is it still smoke free up to 400F ?

How much does it affect the taste ?

Noticed about a $10 difference in the 3 gallon costs and it got me to wondering who here on the green screen has made the switch and did you notice any difference.

( my family will hang me if i screw up the Turkey, it's my 2 shinning moments each year. Thanksgiving and Christmas day Injected/Deep fried Turkeys )

Is it really worth risking it for $10 bucks?

Just get the peanut earl. $29 at academy and they will probably drop it to about $25 this coming week. They usually do.

We bought Pure (2- 3 gal. jugs), just seeing bigger displays of blended and had thoughts.

was interested to see what the thoughts here were..... finding out quickly!

I fry 10-14 a year and only use peanut oil. Like others mentioned, by time you burn propane and seasoning, plus cost of the bird what's another $10 to insure is done right.

If the oil burns, it will be awful

I did the same thing yesterday, Academy has the peanut oil for $29 up front. I was snooping around the grill/cooker section and found the blended on sale for $13 for 3 gal. Its blended peanut and soybean. I bought the blended. The smoke point for soybean is the same as peanut (410 degree).

This was the Academy at 45 and Rayford

I try to stay away from as much soy stuff as posible so I would just pay the extra.

I stopped frying and went to an infrared cooker. A whole lot easier and tastes as good IMO
