Scouting a heavily hunted public area. While it's heavily hunted I've found an area 3+ miles from nearest area almost exclusively accessible by airboat. Gonna put out 6 or 7 cameras. Looking for a cheaper option that I won't lose sleep over if a few walk off. best option? Also open to ideas to hide them. I seriously doubt there will be much if any foot traffic but want to cover my bases.

I think it's worth to buy some bike locks, the cable kind, and lock them to the trees.
Other option: If you just want to know if deer are in the area, put out some corn, come back and check the type of tracks.
Hiding the camera's: I would just put some twigs in the strap so you can't see the camera or the strap from the side or back.

i wrap mine in that allen camo tape and that works pretty good when you pair it with putting cameras in less than conspicuous areas. like low to the ground or up high. youd be surprised how many people will walk right past a camera just because its knee level. also i go to home depot and get 3/16" cable, run that through some part of the cam, loop it around the tree and lock it. Just keeps honest men honest.
i bought a few of the WI cameras when they were on sale for 50.00 and my local wal-mart usually has a couple of simmons or tascos on clearance for about that price. not the best but they get the job done and like you said if one walks away id be p***** but id get over it quick
