Last weekend I put my wife on a good management 8 that some of you have seen pics and video of.
This weekend, Friday evening I got back to the lease with my oldest son, Ian.
The goal was to put him on a management deer that he would be proud of.
Ian has been hunting with me ( wrapped up in a coat sleepin on the stand floor since he was 4 years old. This weekend, exactly 10 years ago this weekend, he took his first deer at the age of 6 (3 weeks before his 7th birthday), it was an old 3 point.
This weekend, (3 weeks before his 17th birthday) was a weekend all about he and I just hangin out and hunting. Friday evening (he shot his first on the first day-friday evening a management 10pt walks out, it was a mainframe 8 with a split brow and a very small but legal point.
One shot later with a round though the heart and lungs he was down.
10 years ago he was using my .22-250
This time he wasn't 100% certain his gun was in because banged the scope hard gettin into the blind so once again my boy was using my rifle. This time it was my savage.25-06.
Certainly not the biggest deer in the world but it is a trophy to him and by far his biggest to date. He is still stoked and I could be happier for or more proud of him!!
