Very sad tragey. Prayers for families involved.
Isnt mercaptan the compound which is added to propane/lng to give
it that distinctive order which makes you aware of a potential
gas leak?

I used to work there and knew all the workers minus the lady. They were not first responders to the event. I knew the supervisor well. Sad sad sad day. I worked awhile and that unit. That chemical and the one that blew up Bopal India scared the crap out of me.

A friend of mine son, was one of the first responders. She said he assisted in carrying out 2 of the victims.

My uncle worked at that plant for years as a mechanic. I talked to him about it and he said the operators should have waited for the mechanics to get there to fix whatever was broke. Bad deal all around.
