    Why oh why....

When the temperature drops outside that people turn the heat up to 90°

I think I am slow roasting!

Ha, it is good to know that I'm not the only one that has to deal with that stuff.

Luckily, I'm in a secluded part of the office and all alone, so I have complete control over the thermostat.

At home, not so much. Mrs likes to stay warm, so I spend the winter running around in my underoos to keep from spontaneously combusting.

Luckily I have a thermostat in my office which controls my side of the building. I make them all suffer--I like it cold, not hot.

This reminds me of a thread I started 4 years ago - cut and pasted below:

Are you a participant in the "thermostat wars?" What side are you on?
At least twice per annum for the duration of or marriage we've had this conversation

(Flash back to a hot August night, getting ready for bed)

She: "It's hot in here, I'm going to turn down the thermostat!"
Me:" It's not that hot, just don't use such a heavy blanket"
She: "It's hot and I'm turning down the thermostat!"
Me: "But if it were February and 25 degrees outside you'd have the heat cranked up to this exact temperature and call it comfortable!"
She: "Yeah, but when it's cold outside, you want it warmer inside!"
Me: (exasperated but realizing arguing is futile)

(Fast forward to last night while getting ready for bed

She:"It's cold in here, I'm going to turn up the heat"
Me: "It's not that cold in here - just get an extra blanket"
She: "It's freezing - I want to turn up the heat"
Me: " But if this were August and 100 degrees outside you'd have the air conditioner cranked down to this exact temperature and call it comfortable!"
She: "Yeah, but you want it colder in the summertime!"

Here we have a woman who can remember every phone number whe has ever dialed and can compute pi out to 100 digits in her head, but somehow can't quite grasp that the point of having a thermostat is to keep a constant temperature in the house!
Is this a male/female thing? Am I alone here? Should I have a "dummy thermostat" in the hall and the one that's actually hooked up hidden from view?

68 is ideal for me inside this time of year. anymore than that and it get's hot.

^^^^^ This, it actually works, until, "Have you heard the heater kick on yet? I'm still cold."

Jerp, I have the same battle with my wife. During the summer she doesn't want to put the air below 78 because "We're not made of money and can't afford to run the air all the time" but during the winter she's ok with it being 70 in the house.

Just be glad you can control your own heat and air. I work for a big communication company and corporate in Kansas controls my thermostat here in my Texas office. They have it set so the fan runs 24/7/365 so when it's cold and the heat isn't kicked in it just flows cold air. They said it to cool the equipment but I'm not equipment!
