    Child Support Rant

Ok so this is a touchy subject I know, but what is fair and what is just getting the screws put to you? Make no mistake my kids will always be taken care of and will never go without. With that being said though how much is really enough when you have the kids half the time? Long story short is I got promoted back in April and got a decent pay raise. She filed on me the same week I got promoted and its finally going to mediation/ negotiations tomorrow.I feel like the cards are stacked against me and I'm getting the shaft for being successful and working hard. Rant over!

I guess according to the state it's fair for me to pay 1800 a month plus insurance. On the positive side that's a lot cheaper than the ex :-)

They have to request it to be raised the state doesn't. It's called greedy, selfish and jealous

Don't get me started... i feel ya. I think every dad should have joint custody if he wants, unless there is a valid reason why not... and the child support payments should reflect the amount of time spent with each parent...

Not necessarily....just because you get a pay raise does not mean an increase. I believe you will be required to produce the W-2s for the last two years to establish a basis for what you will owe...your lawyer should know this. And, make sure you do not cave to every demand as a good lawyer will want to have you pay all costs and this is not the right thing to do. And, if you do not have a lawyer, get one. Cheers!

Yes apparently they will. Like said nursejenn said the whole system is screwed up.

I need to start thinking of it as paying installments to get rid of her.

Same boat as you buddy and couldn't agree more.

People think you are a jerk for mentioning it but It's the truth. This system is nowhere fair, and is 90% skewed against the man.

I love my daughter with all my heart and soul. Don't regret a minute of the Time I have with her and cherish every moment.

Our system on child support is broken and needs to be overhauled. The pay raise the custodial gets every 6 years is bs also.

Another thing that hacks me off. The AG people treat you like crap and are little help for you.

To boot if you get any mismatch on your draft from work they threaten you with credit reporting and legal lawsuits even though I've never missed a payment.

I could go on for days about how big of a pile of crap this is.

Oh and if you bring it up to anyone so something gets done you are branded as a deadbeat who doesn't want their child to succeed.

That money most likely ain't going to the kids.

So if yall have equal custody why do you have to pay child support? She should have to pay you too, if everything is equal.

Couldn't have said it better myself and have experienced every bit of that over the last 5 years.

I've never had to pay it(never divorced) and I think it is a bunch of crap.

The money ought to be put in a pool and the state pay bills on the children needs.
