Very little. Saw spike stretching his neck out like he was looking. 4 decent bucks in a group last Saturday. Some fawns stil have a few spots on their backs. So maybe this herd is late.

So if the gestation period is 6.5 months and they lose their spots around 3 months hear deer were bred first week of January--the "second rut" which means first rut was first week in December. Are my numbers right? The place I hunt is about 10 miles east if granger lake. Always heard the rut there is first week in December.

I saw a doe run through the thicket close to the feeder this am around 7:30. Shortly after that a buck came in looking for her. 15 minutes later a fawn came to the feeder. Not sure if it is the baby of the doe that was being chased. Rut is on and they should be breeding in North Texas this week!

Do you see many deer in the coastal field? I didn't think whitetails eat the Bermuda. Did you set up a feeder in it?

The only time I see deer in my coastal field is if they are crossing it.

Neighbor out where we hunt said he hunted this morning and saw little action. He was working around his house and said its on now. Bucks are chasing like crazy. He's hunting again. This is Coryell County. A huge buck was killed next door to us over the weekend.
