    game processing Grinder

well I am in the market for a meat grinder for venison. I was wondering what yall have and how well it works or didn't work. I was thinking a 1/4 hp but it looks like to get a full metal frame I have to go up to the 1/2 which I would rather but dang $400 is what it looks like they run. I just hate that the next level down looks cheap and is only around 100 bucks.

also we need a game processing forum! haha thanks for your info guys and gals

get the biggest you can afford, those in the $100 range tend to have plastic gears and they will wear down quicker. They also don't get through a large amount of meat quickly so if do small batches they are fine, but if you want to do it all at the end of season you will spend an entire day or more grinding. my .02

Last year my farther and I went in halves and bought a LEM 12 3/4 gourde power at bass pro. We used to use the kitchen aide, but wife didn't want us to burn the motor on the kitchen aide. I know the bugger horse power are a lot more, but let me tell you it is worth every penny and plus more. I can process (grind) 60+ lbs I'd meat in about 15 minutes.

Watch for the sales at Christmas time. Mine is the 1 hp and it can go through some meat fast.

Got the LEM #12 .75hp and it works very good. Was done with 2 deer in less than 10 minutes. All metal gears and never had to use stuffer. Think it was $400 at Academy.
