Im a college baseball player and having to sit in class all day and think about this hunt is killing me, if able i will be doing a live hunt and hopefully will put a giant whitetail to sleep! If y'all have any tips or pointers for me id appreciate it, i hunt in north Texas this will be a different type of hunting for me and also totally different country....

Awesome but I wouldn't think of going to Palo Duro for a whitetail would figure a Mule Deer would be on the hit list.

Either way and hope you kill a big one.

Yeah my dad shot a giant last year out there, but we are missing mule deer season by a week. I will be hunting aoudad, whitetail and hogs.... i really want to get something with my bow but will have a rifle most of the time.

Which ranch are you going to be hunting on up there? Used to know a couple guys that worked on some of the ranches up there. Awesome country and some nice aoudads and deer to be had up there.

Take your rifle with you all the time. Carry your bow, and maybe you'll be lucky enough to get a perfect close range opportunity. But don't miss a long range opportunity on a big aoudad. They don't come around very often.

There are a good number of Mule deer in that country and also a good number of Aoudad. It just depends on how far up the canyon you are hunting. If you are north and west of Quitoque, then there are both of those in the area. Now the hunting may not be easy, but they are available if you can find them. Good luck.
Well I didn't read your post enough to see you will be hunting only White Tail, Aoudad and Hogs. I do know that there are good White tail in the area, but do not know about the Hogs. Hunt hard and hunt long, as the moon is going to be a factor also. You should be sure and hunt in the middle of the day since the moon will be on the decrease from full today the 6th. So basically it will be like hunting a full moon this weekend.

Good luck. I'll be going after mule deer myself in this same area (Briscoe County) early December. Keep us updated.

I can't believe they still make you kids go sit in class......

seems like we would have advanced past the point we were at twenty years ago when I was
skipping college to go hunting in school.
