I spray my backpack like I spray my clothes and boots.
Same here....just started doing this because it got to be too much to carry.

I carry one with all the little junk i "need". But also pack clothes, jacket, etc that i dont want to wear while hiking, but actually need while sitting on cold mornings. Additionally, i typically carry twice as much water/snacks than i ever use.

I had been using a cheapo from academy, but just upgraded to a badlands. Will get to put it to use next weekend.

It was never really ever a conflict in the south since there isn't much snow so most of the south has never actually owned a real toboggan so there was never any confusion between the two.

It just humored me a little
I know you were teasing. I was also. I have this "argument" all the time with my friends from the north.

I guess I am different. I started off carrying a backpack even when my walk back to camp was just 1/4 of a mile. But I'm now trying to move away from it and bringing what I need in my cargo pant pockets.

On a couple of the sits I made this year all I determined I really needed was:

            a range finder
my wallet, pen and zip ties
            a bottle of water
            small flash light or headlamp.
            knife
            cell phone
small ziplock bag of hand corn.
            small first aid kit.

If I need binos, I wear them on the walk out.

If it was to get colder, I'd tie my hoodie around my waist. If I connected, I usually can slip out of where I am and go back to camp to get the game cart/truck/etc and come back to start tracking.

Now, I keep all these things in a small backpack on the off chance I just need food, etc or the walk back to camp/vehicle is just too far.

I've been using one since about 1975. Not only that, but been using a fannie pack almost as long. It is what it is. You think its funny .... I'm carrying everything I need (and some I don't need) with no problem. Some guy wants to rob me; yes sir, my wallet in my fanny pack. Guess what comes out. I'm more along the lines of being alert, than I am about being cool. In all truthfullness, I don't give a crap about being cool. I am what I am and if folks don't like it ..... well I guess we'll just have to live with it. I anin't changing.

Without a doubt have to have a backpack if your hunting all day. Morning and evening hunts, a little fanny pack(and i hate to call it that!) seems to work fine for me. I hunt in south texas so its usually pretty mild. Key word there is usually!!!

For hunting here in Texas I never carry one. Of course I don't have and wouldn't have an Ozonics. Now in Missouri at times I will carry a small of the back pack. There are times there I have to pack in a ways and take some extra gear to last all day or sometimes to have extra layers of clothes.
