Im no expert on east texas deer, but I've always used 14 to 15 inches as a guide when a deer's ears are in the "non alert" position. (Like in the first pic). Here is a thread that talks about it. http://www.fieldandstream.com/answer...-width-his-ear
I guess he might be too close to chance it. It's a shame because ge does not need to be spreading those genetics.
