Just part of living in Texas I suppose but it is remarkable how a simple run-of-the-mill rainstorm improves one's mood. I came home from work, popped a beer and stood in my garage with the door open and just watched it come down. Hearing water gurgling out of the gutter downspouts is like sweet music. I found myself calculating that the 2" we've gotten so far translates to over 50,000 gallons of free water on my 1 acre lot! I'm just a suburban homeowner trying to keep turf and landscaping alive - I can only imagine the blessing it must feel like for dry land farmers and other ag folks for whom rain is a major variable determining whether or not they make a living.
