cost to have city run water to property

I am having to choose between a well and paying to have city bring water out to the property. Does anyone know what ballpark cost is to run city water per foot? Theres a subdivision not 200yds away

    thx

You always have good water from city vs well

We ran city water to our lease almost a mile so 200 yards is a dream

Labor and materials for running close to a mile was approx 10k using sub contractors

I would take City water any day. Don't have to worry about the electricity going out or pump problems. It was going to cost me $20,000 plus to bring city water into my place vs the $6500 for a well. I would have had to run the line 2 miles from the main line and none of the neighbors wanted to help pay for the line, even though I was told once the line was in, it was now the property of the water district and the neighbors could tap into the line for the price of the meter. I went with the well but if a water line was installed at the road I would gladly pay to have a reliable source of water.

I helped my dad and my brother run a mile of community water to their property lines a couple of years ago. The water co supplied the line and other supplies. We rented a "ditch witch" and used my dads tractor on a few things. All said and done it cost about $500 in rental and diesel.
They had it bid by a subcontractor and it would have cost $16K+ to have them do it. It took three of us a total of 22 hrs to complete the job over two and a half days. So if you don't mind doing a little labor yourself, it is well worth it!

If you contact the water system they should be able to give you a rough estimate and if they can extend the line from the subdivision 200 yards to your property I am sure it will cost less than having a well drilled.
