Have you pig hunted at night with a normal peep or no peep. I have and with no peep its not easy to tell which side of the string your looking on at night and with a peep your vision and light is cut way down. I have killed lots of pigs those ways but with the string splitter and a little glow paint on the sides it makes it very easy to shoot at night.

a standard tru peep or one of the g5 meta peeps , go to your local shop and try a few out and find the one that fits the outside diameter of your sight housing, that way you will know without a doubt that your anchor is consistent and if it isnt you wont have a full view of the housing, could see applications for the string splitter at night purley for hog hunting with a bow mounted light as a standard peep sight can be hard to aquire in a low light situation, g5 makes a monster 5/8" meta peep just for that also

if you don't like the product then you don't like it, one thing I have learned in bow hunting is it's all about preference and being comfortable. I'm not comfortable with the peep I have now for shooting at night, for day time its great, but I need something to serve both purposes. Like you said it's a good idea to try out a bunch and see which one works for you. Obviously the string splitter didn't do you justice, but it may for someone else. But honestly, there wouldn't be much a difference in using the string splitter or using the monster 5/8"

So far, I've installed 12 String Splitters at my shop.

Like I said, it's not for everyone.

sound like pretty good odds there, I just need something that I can see through better than the peep I have for hunting at night
