My 7 year old son drills one!!! Some of you May have read my post a few days ago about a story Camden wrote at home last week about the the "deer lease", if you haven't, you need too. Camden has been wanting to pull the trigger for the last couple seasons. I got him a .22 last Christmas and I bet he's shot 1500 rounds since then. He wanted a scope but I would not give in. I believe you must master open sights before you can move on up. Anyway, around August at one the work weekends something clicked....... He figured out how to shoot open sights. He kept hitting those spinners on every shot. You could see the excitement and joy in his face. I try not too over coach him in any thing he does, little instruction and let him figure it out, little more and so on. I told him before gun season that he could shoot pigs and coyotes...no deer yet, prolly next year. Anyway, he was super excited. We practiced at home by letting him line up the cross hairs and squeezing the trigger on animals on the hunting channel. Fast forward to yesterday afternoon..... had a few does on the corn row, they bolted....I got the gun up thinking it could be a buck. It was a coyote, Cam quickly climbed up in my lap, he grabbed the gun, found it in the scope, squeezed the trigger and the rest his history, 194 yards. The shakes of excitement set in afterwards, very proud and happy for him.
