Can acorns only be preserved by freezing them?

I already asked on here about harvesting acorns on a large scale.

What I'd like to know is if y'all think that putting acorns in a large walk-in freezer would preserve them to feed to deer later? I'm talking about hundreds of pounds of acorns. Maybe even tons.

Some years my trees have had such a huge production of acorns that I ran the piles of them through a gas powered chipper/shredder to grind them into smaller pieces.
