That is the exact reason i will never shoot a mechanical! A fix blade will never have that problem! I always wanna be sure never wanna take a chance like that!

Looks like it hit something hard after the pass thru and that closed the blades...?

I don't see how that's possible. Can you open them easy with your fingers or are they stuck closed?

Did you recover the deer? On the original reapers the blades would often close after a pass through. First couple times made me worry until I looked at the entrance and exit. Never had a reaper fail to open. Even if you did have a failure the fixed blade would kill if you hit the vitals. I will be following to see how this one turns out.

I don't see how they could not open if they moved pretty effortlessly when new.

gut shot (broke last rib on way in), found him 7 hours later, 2 properties over, bout half mile away in a pond. based on entrance and exit holes, they did not open. open easily with fingers. don't know how or why, just sharing my experience with them...
