How many lbs of meat from 1 deer?

Question for those who process their own vs those who take it to a processor. About how many lbs of meat do you get from one average sized WT? Thanks.

Really depends on what you consider average and what are you planning on having it processed as?

shot a 95lbs doe (on hoof) last week

didnt weigh backstraps and tenderloin ( got them whole)
rest made 26lbs of ground meat (2 shoulders, 2 hindquarters, brisket, neck)

Big body mature 8 point from walker county and mature doe from same county and got 48 lbs of meat from both. No shoulders were messed up from gun shot. Both shot with bow. That's just hard to believe. No meat should've been messed up except for maybe a pound or two from backstrap. Last time I take it to that processor!

That 48 lbs you got back is probably "green weight" too. Did you have any burger, sausage, or jerky made? If so, there is probably something mixed in as well (pork or beef fat). That means you got even less than 48 lbs of venison back. Sounds like you need a new processor IMHO.

No that's just deer meat. Pork and hamburger meat was added to make a total of 87 lbs.

I just grabbed my backstraps and tenderloins and weighed em for ya. 4.89lbs....we'll say 5lbs+ 26 of ground meat=31lbs from a 95lbs doe (I've gotten this +/- a pound from every doe I've killed in that size class (I quarter myself)

I dont get rib meat, and dont expect my processor to either for what they charge me. But if they did then....yea CB's % would be pretty darn close.

                          33-35% live weight.

Usually after trimming fat and silverskin etc off we end up with close to 40% as long as the shots don't blow thru the shoulders, etc. We usually try to get all that good neck meat and rib meat as well, which would likely be the slightly higher average than some.

Got 60lbs total from the old 7pt I killed 3 weeks ago. Backstraps weighed 12lbs and 48lbs of burger. We guessed him to weigh 180-185 live. Was all me and Daniel could do to lift him up unto the carry rack.
