Shot a boar this evening, approx 225-250lbs or more I like to think small. Got 7-8" of penetration in the "kill zone." See the pic for reference, I laid my Ruger sr40c where the arrow broke off and from back to front there was still an inch left. Worth looking for in the morning or not? I'd like to get my slick trick back if possible. Found the remainder of the arrow 20 yards from the point of shot. This is my first non pass thru in my 15+ years of bow hunting...

Probably hit ribs or shoulder on off side, A hogs ribcage isn't very thick. If that was in the right spot, you got both lungs.Comment

I shot one with similar results
Shot looked perfect but it was at night
Never found pig and assumed he ran off and died
Killed by a guest a couple months later. Arrow had hit above spine and if it had been 2" lower would have been dead pig
Oh yeah, like you I wanted my broadhead back. Not a good idea after it had been in there that long

I had very similar results with the same BH at 15 yards. I thought the pig was smaller than it actually was and didn't think the shield was going to be an issue..... It was! I got about the same penetration you did, broke my arrow and lost my BH. I think I'm about to start shooting them in the ear or something. Tired of pigs breaking my arrows!Comment
