I stole this. I hunt for the same reason my well fed cat hunts.

Because it is a link to my heritage. The skills my father taught me, his father taught him, and his father to him.

Because my family's hunting grounds have been passed down so that I am the 5th generation to spill blood there.

Because when I was 10 years old, not yet old enough to sit a stand by myself, my mother(gone 15 years now) would sit by herself, in the box blind across the draw, so I could legally bowhunt the single-person stands that my dad had built thinking only he himself would use them.

To say it is in my blood doesn't seem to cover it.

I like the sense of accomplishment when lots of off season work pays off in a kill. I love the thrill of the kill, but I think the most important thing is comradery with family and friends

I really don't have an explaination. I grew up hunting and fishing to put meat on the table. It was pretty much the only meat we had. That's pretty much why I still do it. To put meat on the table. HEB would probalby be cheaper, but it is what it is. I like the gamey taste which some folks work so hard to get rid of. At least I'm not out there cometing with you for the biggest buck in the woods. A nice tender doe suits me just fine.

Nature, it's all about taking everything in, all the little noises and sights. The kill is to feed my friends family and looking into donate to Hunters for the Hungry. Knowing that others have something in the freezer is worth all the effort I put into taking a animal, no matter what it is. Also I love to kill stuff.

Good eats. And the calm being in the woods no tv no phone just quiet.

First and foremost is to feed my family. Secondly there is no feeling like being part of nature and enjoying gods creation.

I like being able to be self sufficient. It's also a great way to relax and destress when all you hear are the crickets chirping, watching the sunrise, and not hearing the hustle and bustle of everyday working life.

For many reasons. The last on that long list is for what most consider a trophy.
I want to harvest wall hangers, but I hate passing on deer because they don't meet the standards of the other hunters at camp.

Having a hard time with this on the new lease I got on last year.

Because it is the only way to be an actual part of nature. Sure hikin and camping are great but you are just an observer when you hunt and fish you become part of nature to quote Disney you are part of the circle of life. I think the none hunters don't get that this is why we hunt to be part of the world not just in the sidelines.
Also game meat tates good and it is some of the most fun you can have on the planet.

Right now, at this moment in my life, the meat is the primary reason. I love deer meat. I feel physically better after I've only eaten deer meat for a few days, that is to say the only meat.

I also love being in the stand, and wondering what creature will wander by at any given moment. I've seen things from spending a ton of time in the woods that other folks will likely never see.

I'd say the killing is to be honest is my least favorite part. I think that could be a by-product of getting older? Last season, I actually had a hard time "killing" a deer. I had to reassess why I was killing them. It only took a day and I killed the next decent sized doe I saw. Every time I see a chicken truck with those critters packed in those cages it reaffirms that at least the game I take got to live it's own way and won't go to waste being healthy food for my family.
