I can't remember when I didn't use a kisser button; even back when I was shooting trad.
Wait! It was yesterday when my kisser flew off the string upon release of an arrow in the backyard.
So I continued to shoot at 15 yds., thinking I've done this long enough that it shouldn't really make any difference, especially with the peep still being there.
Wrong! Even at 15 yds. everything was 2-4 inches low, and 1-3 inches left. Eventually, I got back in the spot, but it just felt strange. I don't think I could depend on remembering where to anchor in the woods now without a kisser. At 30 yds., I can see the arrow being as much as 10" low and left.
Moral to story: whatever your set-up, don't go to a shoot or into the woods thinking a small change won't affect your shot. Practice with the exact set-up as you plan to shoot for real. If something changes that, make time to practice with the new set-up till you get comfortable with it.
