    Hunting power line runs

In heavily wooded areas, are power line runs that are cleared in straight lines good areas to put a feeder?

I hunt the one on my place. It's always maintained and the deer seem to feel safe Bc they are still surrounded by trees. Actually the first year someone hunter the place I'm on, the owner let a coworker of his come in and he put a feeder in the power line. 13 days later on the first hunt he shot an 18" wide, 16 pointer that scored 167 and change.

I hunt a pipeline in Harrison County that runs through a hardwood bottom and pine thickets. It is an excellent spot but you have to always be ready because many times deer will just walk across and not stop. I throw corn on the ground on both sides of me just to try and slow them down.

            Yes

We have a few hunters hunt the power lines, and see a good amount of deer

Good question! I've got one on the place that I hunt but I've never hunted it.

This is one of our best spots on our land. Like bowtechgaurdian said, we usually just catch them coming across. We have a feeder but usually don't get the hits on it as much as just them crossing. Hand corn has slowed them down in the past.

Used to be my favorite place to hunt until I got fired for it.
No more hunting at work for me

Yes and good spots to plant also because there isn't a lot of open space that a deer has to travel in. I killed my biggest 139" in a power line food plot.

You have to be ready to shoot at any second. That is the hardest part about hunting pipelines and powerline clearings.
